Mt Hawthorn is a family

and we celebrate our community by supporting diversity,
togetherness and positive urban experiences.

Welcome to the Mt Hawthorn Hub

Enriching Mt Hawthorn

The Mount Hawthorn Hub is a non profit community organisation for people who enjoy one of Perth’s most evolving cafe strips. Mount Hawthorn is friendly and personal, with its own sense of community and diversity.

The hub brings together local residents, retailers and community groups who want to maintain the unique identity of Mount Hawthorn and make it a welcoming place to live, work and play.

We encourage and promote the diversity, lifestyle and retail environment in Mount Hawthorn by building a unique sense of identity through the organisation of local events, creative projects and streetscape improvements.

The Hub is run by a dedicated bunch of volunteers who live and/or work in Mt Hawthorn.

Thanks to Emma Cole, Georgia Lawrence and the City of Vincent for championing this community driven project and supporting the best design outcome. Also, a big shout out to our Streetscapes team at the Mt Hawthorn Hub for their effort in championing for this beautiful new street upgrade. 🌳🌳🌳🌳Oxford Street North in the Mount Hawthorn Town Centre is undergoing a revamp this month, starting today.

The street upgrade will improve visitor, pedestrian and cyclist experience and bring Oxford Street North in line with its beautified Scarborough Beach Road counterpart, unifiing the town centre streetscape.

The upgrade includes:

• 38 new street trees for enhanced shade and beautification;
• a red asphalt shared space to denote the town centre area;
• a central median for better pedestrian crossing and improved walkability;
• 5 car bays to go as part of works, but 4 new motorcycle bays and potential to aquire 2 current no-stopping bays for parking;
• 12 new bike racks with locations to be determined in consultation with businesses; and
• low profile speed humps to accommodate a potential slower speed zone which will improve safety and town centre amenity.

Works have just commenced, with some disruption to parking on Monday and Tuesday this week, but impact on parking will be kept to a minimum with night works and off peak works scheduled as much as possible.

Please support your local businesses during construction! The City will ensure access is maintained at all times.

The initial design for the upgrade was developed by the Hub’s streetscapes Committee and presented to the City. The City was extremely supportive in taking the design and working to make it a reality.
