Do you have a big idea? 💡

Transition Town Vincent are looking for people to pitch ideas for a project that would benefit the Town of Vincent at their upcoming Neighbourhood SOUP event.

If you’re not familiar with the event, it follows in the footsteps of Detroit SOUP 🥣 where attendees pay $10 for a bowl of soup and a vote.

Over lunch, they listen to four-minute pitches from up to four people working on projects that help the local community. Each diner then casts a vote for the project they'd like to fund and the winner goes home with all of the cash 💰 👏 raised at the door.

Last year’s winning idea, the Vincent Community Kitchen has since become a huge success and after their pitch they received $1060 from the Neighbourhood SOUP event to kickstart the project.

If you would like to pitch an idea at this event go to: goo.gl/HmqtBf or contact soup@ttv.org.au

Vincent Neighbourhood SOUP will be held @piratebar on Sunday August 18 from 1pm-3.30pm.

💫 Art and history unite for Mt Hawthorn’s new heritage trail.

The Hub is thrilled to announce the recent installation of two stunning visual art pieces that will take you back in time and pay tribute to the wonderful history of Mt Hawthorn.

The visual art boards titled: “something old - something new” were created by local resident and artist Caroline Di Costa of @cdc_creates and they represent what was - i.e “something old” and presents these in a contemporary manner “something new”.

The project endeavours to create a greater understanding and awareness around the history of the Mt Hawthorn streetscapes and
appropriation of spaces. It explores how our streets have evolved over time to become what they are today.

It also allows the public to find out more about the previous social and cultural aspects of the suburb as well as changes to the build environment over the town’s history.

The visual boards are located on two parklets in the town centre adjacent to @lawleysbakery and @leafandbeanperth. So next time you have a coffee, spend a bit of time enjoying this snapshot of local history.

Artist: @cdc_creates in collaboration with City of Vincent Local History Centre.

Brought to Mt Hawthorn by Mt Hawthorn Hub and
supported/sponsored by City of Vincent Town Team Initiative grant.

Fabrication by: @advancevisualperth

Let's get behind this event and support the businesses in Mt Lawley tomorrow night at the Rediscover Beaufort Street Rally. Beaufort Street has been doing it tough lately and it would be amazing for as many people to head there this Saturday from 6pm to relive old memories and recreate new ones.

The Beaufort Street Network are throwing out a challenge.... your mission is to #find 3 venues you haven't been to for ages, or at all. Make an early dinner booking, check out the retail shops then have a night cap. Are you up for the challenge? 🙌 💃🕺🥂🍻

Mt Hawthorn Hub is at Lupo Lab.

The wait for the highly anticipated official opening of Lupo Lab is nearly over. 🙌From tomorrow Lupo Lab will be opening its doors for breakfast and lunch daily from 6am to 4.30pm. They’ll be serving up delicious Italian/Roman cuisine and specialty coffee ☕️ with a focus on fair trade and sustainability.

If you’ve walked by and taken a sneaky peak through the windows you'll have noticed the impressive wolf mural 🐺 painted on the walls by the talented local artist Pippa Scheepers from @georgeandgina.

To give you a bit of background, Lupo Lab’s owner Mirko is from Rome and the name Lupo is of Italian origin meaning wolf. The she-wolf is also regarded as a symbol of Rome from Ancient times and is linked to the mythological story of Romulus and Remus - so we’re loving the Italian history and symbolisation in this amazing mural.

The fit out is stunning and there is even city views from the back of the restaurant which will be amazing lite up 💫 at night when they start opening for dinner in July.

Be sure to stop by and welcome Mirko and the team to the Mt Hawthorn community and while you’re there, enjoy a taste of Italy. 👌
